Every first Sunday of May the Madonna della Stella Sanctuary holds Mass for crowds of pilgrims who walk here from the neighbouring villages, in memory of the discovery in 1833 by two shepherds of a miraculously preserved image of the Virgin. The sanctuary is built over the exact spot where the discovery was made, with Mass followed by a convivial picnic lunch.
